Vafler – Norway’s heart-shaped waffles are served all throughout the country in both private homes and at public events… a true staple in Norwegian cuisine.

But how do you make them dairy- and egg-free?

I’ll show you how to make the fluffiest, most delicious vafler ever that you can serve up to your friends and family this holiday season!

Sveler – this delectable batter-based ‘cake’ is very common in my home region of Møre og Romsdal, and similar in appearance to American pancakes. However, these are enjoyed in the afternoon or as a snack rather than breakfast, served with butter or sugar or brunost (brown cheese).

Sveler have been served on board the ferries that connect communities across fjords and on islands, hence the nickname ‘ferry food.’ Join me and let’s explore this regional comfort food, and you’ll see what the hype is all about!

Pannekaker – thin-styled pancakes much like crêpes, these are served with both sweet and savory fillings and are often served for dinner, not breakfast, and sometimes dessert. They even have their own folktale, that’s how popular these are!

We’ll explore how unique these pancakes are and how Norwegians best enjoy them.

Sunny is a native of Norway and a professionally trained chef and wine consultant with nearly 20 years of experience in the food and wine industry. She had her own catering company for seven years, and today she is a vegan food blogger and digital creator with a special focus on Norwegian cuisine.
